More on Health, Productivity & Safety
High Performance Buildings Help Occupant Performance
- Most projects are rushed to occupancy. This occurs for a multitude of reasons, but the end result always effects the building occupants.
- Occupants are most productive when the building runs as it is requested by the owner and designed by the engineers.
- Important for all types of facilities (office, educational, medical, etc.)
- Proper:
- Temperature – Too hot or too cold and occupant productivity diminishes.
- Air flow – Drafty and stuffy areas make occupants uncomfortable.
- Clean air – When filters are dirty or improperly installed occupant sickness increases and the amount of debris blowing in increases.
- Missing equipment – Design and occupant demand cannot be met if equipment is not installed. This leaves the occupant without proper working conditions.
- Lighting – Too dim or too bright makes occupants uncomfortable. Lighting that does not turn on or frequently turns off automatically creates nuisances that greatly effect occupants.
- Domestic hot water – Too hot and scalding is a danger, too cold and it discourages use, either way occupants are negatively effected.
Zephyr Goal
- I am able to identify systems with deficiencies and help the team resolve the issues. I am not only helping the building become successful, I am also helping the occupant health, productivity and safety.
